I have lived in and around Parkville my entire life and have loved exploring local roads and trails. That passion led me to open Cycle City in 2004. Since then I've been able to ride and race every discipline of cycling all around the country. I still love riding and racing as much as I can, but many of my rides find me coaching our local middle and high school mountain bike team around the trails. To me, nothing is more rewarding than watching a new rider gain confidence and skills as they smile down the local trails. I'm very lucky to be able to spend my spare time, on and off the bike, with my 5 sons and my beautiful wife Mickelle.

I didn’t learn to ride a bike until I was 11 years old which is generally a little late to start, but maybe that helped to fuel my passion for riding. I started racing over 30 years ago while in college and still love it. My favorite racing is criteriums on the road, but have also done cyclocross, gravel, mountain bike, and adventure racing.
I really enjoy anything on the bike from commuting and running errands, to just cruising around with the family and friends. I’m pretty sure riding a bike is the closest thing you’ll find to the fountain of youth!

Originally a Nebraska kid, I grew up racing BMX around the Midwest. I started working on bikes at nine years old as the only kid who knew how to fix a flat in the neighborhood. I’ve been with CycleCity since we opened in 2004 but I’m also a 26 year veteran of the Kansas City Fire Department. Besides my family, riding bicycles and working on bikes are two of my favorite things. The bike shop is my comfort zone, a place where I get to see the new and shiny, polish up an old steed and talk to like minded people. I ride trails on my Specialized Stumpjumper, commute all year round on my Salsa Beargrease and ride wheelies around the hood on my SE Racing FatRipper. All things I plan to do for the rest of my days.

I grew up riding bikes but it wasn’t until I started working at Cycle City that I found a passion for it. There’s an amazing feeling of excitement but also a calmness that I’ve only ever experienced on two wheels. I love to commute on my bikes but have also dabbled in gravel racing and hopefully many different forms of racing to come. Whether it be by myself or with a group of friends I’m always happiest on my bike.

I was born and raised in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. I remember clearly at the age of 6 getting my first bicycle, a red 20"BMX. I fell in love with bicycles ever since. I grew up riding them, working on them, and modifying them. I built a lot of ramps, got a lot of road rash and stitches...regular kid stuff! And I'm still that kid. I'm a happy 35-year-old kid when I am on my bike. I was introduced to mountain biking in 2007 when I first moved to the States and that has been one of my biggest passions ever since! Thanks to the guys at Cycle City, now I've been getting into road/gravel riding - I want to see how far I can take it. Happy Pedaling!

I grew up in south KCMO with the Blue River parks in my backyard. I started mountain biking when I was 8 and have expanded to nearly every discipline since then. I went car free for 5 years, but my favorite rides are long country cruises on Kansas gravel and exploring the mixed use trails all over our beautiful metro. I love outdoor recreation and I do it all! I'm happy to share ideas on biking, camping, hiking, paddling, running, climbing, road trips, snow sports and more. Restoring old bikes and inspiring riders at all stages/fitness levels is my passion. It's all about fun and fitness for me!

A self ascribed enigma of the bicycle industry. For two decades I have attempted to blend a passion for educating and promoting an active lifestyle on two wheels. It all started like it does for many others, riding outside my childhood home until the sun went down. After a long summer of mowing lawns at the age of nine I saved enough cash for my own bike shop quality bike (Trek 820 Multi Track). A bicycle has never been more than a few steps away since.
30 years later my work and passion has been intertwined for most of it. My journey has taken me around the world recreationally, and through the entirety of northeast Kansas professionally over that time. I now reside in the Kansas City metro with my wife Melanie and our two black cats.

I've pursued in an active outdoor lifestyle for as long as I can remember. It was in my mid-20s that I took a deeper dive into cycling, spurred on by my discovery of triathlons. Since then, my cycling journey has expanded to encompass gravel, commuting to work, or single-track mountain biking (I even dabbled in adventure racing for a while!).
A few years ago, I bid farewell to a 30+ year corporate career. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my three adult children and my wonderful wife Debbie, and riding a bike.
I've only been a Cycle City team member for a short time but have been a customer since they opened in 2004. I've always made it a point to share my cycling passion with friends, and now, as part of the Cycle City team, I have the privilege of extending that passion to our valued customers.

I grew up riding a bike everywhere from sun up to sundown. I stopped riding in my late teens after joining the Army. I finally got back on a bike in my late 20’s when my wife and I were looking for something fun and active to do. We hit our first mountain bike trails in 2018 and have absolutely fell in love with the peace and excitement that we get from hitting the trails. I could live on my Stumpjumper.
