Joe Fox

I have lived in and around Parkville my entire life and have loved exploring local roads and trails. That passion led me to open Cycle City in 2004. Since then I've been able to ride and race every discipline of cycling all around the country. I still love riding and racing as much as I can, but many of my rides find me coaching our local middle and high school mountain bike team around the trails. To me, nothing is more rewarding than watching a new rider gain confidence and skills as they smile down the local trails. I'm very lucky to be able to spend my spare time, on and off the bike, with my 5 sons and my beautiful wife Mickelle.

I didn’t learn to ride a bike until I was 11 years old which is generally a little late to start, but maybe that helped to fuel my passion for riding. I started racing over 30 years ago while in college and still love it. My favorite racing is criteriums on the road, but have also done cyclocross, gravel, mountain bike, and adventure racing.

I really enjoy anything on the bike from commuting and running errands, to just cruising around with the family and friends. I’m pretty sure riding a bike is the closest thing you’ll find to the fountain of youth!

Gene Kennedy

Originally a Nebraska kid, I grew up racing BMX around the Midwest. I started working on bikes at nine years old as the only kid who knew how to fix a flat in the neighborhood. I’ve been with CycleCity since we opened in 2004 but I’m also a 26 year veteran of the Kansas City Fire Department. Besides my family, riding bicycles and working on bikes are two of my favorite things. The bike shop is my comfort zone, a place where I get to see the new and shiny, polish up an old steed and talk to like minded people. I ride trails on my Specialized Stumpjumper, commute all year round on my Salsa Beargrease and ride wheelies around the hood on my SE Racing FatRipper. All things I plan to do for the rest of my days.

I truly fell in love with bikes shortly after high school when I experienced downhill mountain biking in Colorado. Ever since that first descent, I’ve been trying to find a way to incorporate mountain biking into my everyday life. I’ve always loved the outdoors and had a passion for living a life of adventure, so mountain biking is a perfect fit. While downhill sparked my interest in biking, I’ve found the climb can be fun too. I love exploring new trails in and out of the Kansas City area with my wife and dog. Given a muddy trail, I may even dabble in a little gravel riding or a down-town biking bar hop. I landed a sweet job at Cycle City in 2018, and have since worked up to my role as service manager. My favorite part of my job is helping people incorporate a passion for bikes into their life, just like I was able to find.

I grew up riding bikes but it wasn’t until I started working at Cycle City that I found a passion for it. There’s an amazing feeling of excitement but also a calmness that I’ve only ever experienced on two wheels. I love to commute on my bikes but have also dabbled in gravel racing and hopefully many different forms of racing to come. Whether it be by myself or with a group of friends I’m always happiest on my bike.

Luis Zepeda

I was born and raised in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. I remember clearly at the age of 6 getting my first bicycle, a red 20"BMX. I fell in love with bicycles ever since. I grew up riding them, working on them, and modifying them. I built a lot of ramps, got a lot of road rash and stitches...regular kid stuff! And I'm still that kid. I'm a happy 35-year-old kid when I am on my bike. I was introduced to mountain biking in 2007 when I first moved to the States and that has been one of my biggest passions ever since! Thanks to the guys at Cycle City, now I've been getting into road/gravel riding - I want to see how far I can take it. Happy Pedaling!

Bryce Koch

My name is Bryce and am currently a Junior at Park Hill South High School. In my free time I love to mountain bike as well as play golf. I have been riding for the past 3 years and have learned a lot. I have been playing golf really most of my life but just started playing competitively at the start of my freshman year of high school.

The more I grow up, the more my passion grows for biking. I loved riding bikes as a little kid whether it was commuting, hitting the trails, or hanging out with friends. When I was 14, I got my first full suspension mountain bike. Ever since then, I’m always on the trails. I raced cross country style with the Park Hill Composite Bison racing team for the National Interscholastic Cycling league this year. I am looking into racing for the years to come as well. Mountain Biking has become a mental escape, a source for fun, my main form of exercise, and much more. I am excited to continue growing in the 2 wheels community around KC!

Bikes are transformative, and my life has been molded and transformed because of them. From my first mountain bike race circa 2005 that led an amazing racing career, to my working life as I've been fortunate to work for some great shops through the years. Then the power of bikes gave me the chance to work as a professional trail builder prior to joining Cycle City. I enjoy most watching other's lifes transform with the power of two wheels, and helping them along the way in any way I can!
